/// CITY GUIDE : MILANO

Here is what I usually do when someone come and visit me in Milano….
the first must do is go to the Fiera di Sinigaglia ,every saturdays in the ticinese district (subway Green Line to P.ta. Genova). In these « street market » you could find, in an unusual place, clothes at a really good price (the so called « frippe ») or other items.
Then you can have a walk on the Naviglio grande, it’s relaxing and pleasant evenmore if you are lucky and have sun. you will find boutiques and ateliers of artist of Milan, cafes, restaurants and old moored barges fitted out as bars for meeting the typical atmosphere and the young Milan people.
There is a fancy ristorante overthere, il Brellin (nearby the « lavandai »).
Corso Buenos Aires may not be an unusual place to the shopping but you have to know that in the middle of the course there is the Benetton/Sisley outlet with really good price and some temporary shop (great brand at a good price)…
If you are looking for a restaurant with original practices, go to the IL MAGGIOLINO, Viale Liguria, 47. good meat and you will be surprised by the welcome… Should I tell you know or let you be susprised….Ok, I’ll just tell you that they have a special way to get all the people « play » together and you may be amazed by the glasses or the way beer is presented. Casual dressing recommended
If it’s a nice WE, I highly suggest to take a train and good to Como for a nice ice cream or just have walk arround the lake, it’s just an 1/2 hour trip. From May to august there is usually a important international exhibition of antique, modern and contemporary art in Villa Olmo, worth paying a visit at least for the place.
Another MUST do: the « aperitif » in Milan, you have to be aware that there is a real culture of the aperitif here and you will find a nice buffet with a lot of thing to grab…
Enjoy your stay!
